What do you love about doing hair?
There are so many reasons why I love doing hair. Being a hairstylist combines two of my most favorite things in life which are creating art, and making people feel good. Hair has quickly become my favorite art form, weather it’s a quirky haircut or custom coloring, I have found the beauty in all of it. Being able to express myself and creativity through my clients and social media has really transformed my life! There really is no better job in my opinion, I see myself as an artist fortunate enough to use my skills to make my clients the best versions of themselves:)
What are some of your favorite cuts/colors/styles that you do?
In 2023 curly haircuts became one of my favorite services. Through working with more curly haired people I quickly learned that almost every one with curly hair has had a very traumatic haircut experience at one point. I see this as an opportunity to right some wrongs in the hair community and I am honored to have built up an amazing clientele of curly haired people! I also love love love working with vivids. Think bright, bold, out of the ordinary. I love any creative color that matches or enhances my clients style and vibe.
One of my other favorite parts of doing hair is the styling. From piecey texture to a voluminous 90’s blowout, I love it all!
What are some styles you're looking forward to trying?
In 2024 I am looking forward to getting more into shaggy, messy, super textured haircuts. I feel like “messy” hair is really having a moment right now and I am here for it! This year I would also love to expiriment more with vivid colors and placement. I would love to do more hair that pushes the boundaries!
Whats a product you tried recently that you love?
A product that is new to me that I absolutely adore is the Texturizing Dust from Davines. It provides the best matte textured hold without weighing the hair down. I love this product for anyone with fine to thick hair that’s looking for a root boost or some messy lived-in texture!
What is your home routine?
My hair routine has changed so much over the years but I feel like I finally have found a regimen that I love! I wash my hair with cold water to preserve my color and I use Melu shampoo and conditioner from Davines! I will switch out my shampoo every few times with the awaken shampoo as well! In between my hair wash days I use the awaken scalp elixir to keep my scalp from getting too much build up and keep things fresh. For my leave-in conditioner I use Pravana intensive repair mist and half a pump of olaplex no. 6! For some extra heat protection I use the Melu spray from Davines. I also will switch between Davines Liquid Spell and Awaken Protein Mousse for my volumizer.
What are you favorites products for your favorite styles you do?
In all my styling volume, texture, and shine are some of my main components. My top product for each of those categories goes as follows: volume: going to have to go with the new awaken foam for this one. This stuff is seriously amazing!! If you have fine hair you understand the struggle of wanting a lot of volume but being way down by the heavy products. This foam is the perfect light texture and hold for anyone with foam to medium hair and provides so much volume! For texture my go to product has been the texturizing dust by Davines. It has a light finish with some extreme hold and grit. This is perfect for short messy haircuts or anyone that wants a bit more volume at the Root. Finally my favorite product for shine has got to be the Surface Bliss smoothing cream. This is the shiniest and softest cream and is perfect for a bouncy, glossy, blowout.
Anything else you want people to know about you?
Something I would like people to know about me is how passionate I am about my job and what it really means to me. Ever since I was young I have always had a passion for creating art. Being able to express myself through my artwork is one of the most important things in my whole life. Another thing that I am really passionate about is helping people and making people feel good about themselves. Building up my clients confidence through the art of hair has been such an amazing experience. I had no idea I would be able to find a career path that could combine all of these things that were so important to me! Every day I surprise myself with what I am able to accomplish. I have overcome so many different anxieties and doubts that I’ve had in myself that I didn’t even know was possible. Doing hair has truly shown me my purpose in life and helped me find my place in this crazy world.
